The New Forest Tourism Partnership, together with Geocast TV have created a new mobile service to offer discounts and incentives to anyone who downloads them onto their mobile phones or iPods. Visitors planning to visit the New Forest simply go to www.thenewforest.co.uk or www.newforest.iclick2go.co.uk , choose the attraction they would like to visit, watch a short film about that destination and then click a button to send it to their mobile phone. Mentioning the offer or discount shown on the film when booking means visitors can save money when enjoying the attraction of their choice. A large number of attractions in the area have already signed up to the service, called iClick2go©, including Chewton Glen Hotel and Sandy Balls Holiday Park, with many more being added. Anthony Climpson OBE, Employment and Tourism Manager for the New Forest District Council commented, “this is cutting edge stuff – the technology makes the New Forest far more accessible to people planning to visit our wonderful destination. It also allows those who use it to get added value and incentives for some of our best hotels and attractions, which is fantastic.” The innovative service allows people to watch films about places they are about to visit. This raises awareness for attractions featured, which includes hotels, restaurants and theme parks. As well as increasing the number of visitors, the service will also allow people to share the videos with ease by sending them on from mobile to mobile. This innovative method of attracting visitors has also been backed by Britain’s national tourism agency, Visit Britain. The agency’s Head of Online Marketing , Justin Reid, added,”iClick2go is really exciting and forward thinking. It ties in perfectly to our film marketing strategy and our view that film promotion is helping to drive ever more visitors to our attractions across the country.” The iClick2go© service also allows users to subscribe to the offers via their iPods using iTunes, or download the iClicktogo© application straight to their iPhone. Future versions of the application are also planned for other mobile devices, including Nokia and Blackberry. |
